In 2020 I was hunting the Weminuche Wilderness and ran into some guys the second day of the season. They were pretty cool guys looking for a campsite so I told them they could camp by me and we've become hunting/cooking/hiking buddies since them. One of the guys had a Maven RS.1 on his Weatherby 270 and when I looked through this (and his Maven binos) it put my Leupold to shame.
I purchased this scope to go on my Tikka T3X Superlite after I had it rebarreled by Snowy Mountain Rifles. The scope is a first focal plane, the first FFP I've owned, and it takes a little getting used to using low magnification but is great at high magnification. The advantage of an FFP is that the reticle marks work correctly at all magnifications versus a second focal plane which only work correctly at maximum magnification. FFPs are also more complicated and heavier.
The scope has excellent specs and all the controls are smooth and tight. The windage and elevation turrets turn easily and have positive clicks, the parallax adjustm3n5w to r4om 10 yards to infinity and test accurate at the range. In my opinion the magnification zoom ring is tight but has loosened a little over the last few years, but the optional ($60) throw lever is worth the investment.
